Minister Barbara Smith
B.A.B.E (Becoming A Better Example) is a faith-based ministry dedicated to empowering, enriching and enhancing the lives of women through academics and scriptural teachings of Jesus Christ.
Who is Barbara Smith?
Minister Barbara Smith has over three decades of nursing experience as a Registered Nurse with the Henry Ford Health System. She has worked as an Infusion Nurse, Hematology/Oncology as a Nurse Navigator, Women Health and is presently retired. In addition, she has incorporated her ability within the medical profession and conjoined it with scriptural knowledge to provide an in-depth explanation of biblical principles. She has been given the opportunity to speak in the United States and the United Kingdom.
She is now embarking on a new path with a teaching series for women young and old as we strive to become living examples. This is the introduction of the ministry B.A.B.E. (Becoming A Better Example) which is taken from the scriptural passage I Timothy 4:12, “Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.”
All these terms speak to the attributes and characteristics of the believers especially words that come out from our mouths, but conversation is not about verbal expression but our lifestyle. When the words that come out of your mouth are different from our lifestyle, then our actions we display become a contradiction and a counterfeit. When the words out of our mouth are the same as our lifestyle then we are examples of believers and become someone to be imitated or modeled.
Minister Barbara Smith is the mother of three adult sons and has eight grandchildren. She lives in Redford, Michigan.

THE MONARCH CHRYSALIS
The Monarch chrysalis is a sacred symbol of new beginnings—quiet, hidden, yet full of divine potential. Adorned with delicate gold spots, it reflects the beauty and value of the transformation taking place within. Though still and fragile, it is not empty—it is becoming. From this golden-veiled covering, a magnificent butterfly appears, spreading its wings for the very first time. For B.A.B.E., the chrysalis stands for the birth of purpose, the shaping of identity, and the quiet power of preparation before flight. It reminds us that even the smallest beginnings carry the promise of something extraordinary.

THE MONARCH MESSAGE
Like the Monarch butterfly, every woman on the journey to becoming a better example undergoes stages of growth—some hidden, some stretching, all sacred. From the humble caterpillar to the chrysalis, to the unfolding of wings, the Monarch reminds us that transformation is a process. It requires patience, protection, and purpose.
The Monarch doesn’t just fly—it migrates thousands of miles with unshakable direction, carried by unseen winds and guided by divine design. In the same way, B.A.B.E. women are called to rise, move with purpose, and affect generations.
Let the Monarch be our symbol of faith-filled metamorphosis—proof that with God, what begins in stillness can soar in strength.
